Project objectives:
Sharing experiences and finding common solutions to the development of a new generation of cements
- based on new raw materials for firing cement and modern advanced technologies for concrete and ready-mix concrete with improved durability to aggressive environmental load,
- with special emphasis on the development of environmentally - friendly cements and special cements characterized by exceptional performance
„Project is supported from a EEA grant and Norway grants.“
Specification of the workshop´s results of NOVACEM project
Workshop of NOVACEM project was held at Hotel Kamila, Chorvátsky Grob near Bratislava on May 5th and on May 6th in Považská cementáreň, a. s, cement plant Ladce (PCLA). Expert guarantor of the event was from Slovak and the Norwegian side Building Testing and Research Institute, n. o., Bratislava (TSUS) and SINTEF Building and Infrastructure, Trondheim. The action was from organization point of view provided by TSÚS and PCLA. The research results were presented in the cement plant in front of production technologists and sales representatives in order to transform scientific results into production practice.
The main scientific content of the workshop was the issue of research and development of a new generation of cements based on our previously unused non-metallic raw material - marl, whose deposit is possessed in the Slovak Republic by PCLA and two-year research experience of Norwegian partners with marl of their domestic origin. Slovak party informed Norwegian partners on domestic research of hybrid cement H-CEMENT and special cement NONRIVAL being carried out at the level of PCLA as contractor – TSUS as investigator from 2012 until now.
From multidisciplinary scientific view on marl Slovak specialists on clay chemistry from the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of Slovak Academy of Sciences were invited to the workshop and also the expert from Civil Engineering Faculty, Subotica of Serbia, at the request of PCLA, as a specialist in innovative kinds of ceramic concrete. The attached brochure (currently being constructed) gives a concise written form of previous research outputs in Norway and Slovakia.
On May 7th 2015, SINTEF and TSÚS representatives informed Her Excellency Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway about the results of hitherto cooperation during an hour-lasting audience, while consistently confirmed the desire to continue it in large research project at the bilateral level or in a European context. Both sides have declared high standard of professional and, after the workshop, also friendly relations. PCLA invited one of the Norwegian partners to stay for short working planned for 2016.
