Voluntary certification
The (mandatory) certification in the regulated area concerns those products and their characteristics regulated by the Ministerial Decree on Construction Products and/or by corresponding technical specifications (hENs, ETAs, etc.). As regards the hENs, only the Annexes ZA are relevant for the attestation of conformity and hence for the certification. However the Institute, as an accredited certification body, performs also (voluntary) certification of products and their characteristics beyond requirements of the regulated area. The characteristics involved do not affect directly the safety and reliability of the product, however they are significant for the assessment of overall product quality, giving the product a differentiation from competitive products.
The voluntary certification is more flexible than the mandatory certification. A rather wide range of technical specifications may be applied, e.g. first of all complete hENs and other EN or ISO standards, then Slovak and foreign standards and eventually manufacturers’ corporate standards or technical data sheets. A scope of characteristics to be certified is usually agreed between the manufacturer and the certification body. Then the certification body verifies declared parameters of the characteristics and/or makes an assessment of a kind of factory production control. In fact, the procedures and methods applied are similar to those applied in the regulated area, especially those methods applied in the AoC system 1+ resp. 1, with resp. without the further periodical control testing, however both with the periodical surveillance of the factory production control.
The Institute, as the accredited certification body for certification of products, offers also a certification system providing the quality marking of TSUS for selected families of products. The system is run according to the general rules along with specific rules for different families of products.
