Expert testimonies
A tradition of the Institute’s expert practices dates back to the first entry in the register of experts in 1968. Thus the Institute has been carrying out judgement and expert testimonies of different kinds for over 4 decades now. Since 2003, the Institute has been registered as an expert body under number 900191 for the section „Construction“ in the list of experts, interpreters and translators, which is kept by the Ministry of Justice. The Institute as the expert body is active in the following sectors:
- buildings,
- civil engineering works,
- water retention and flow works,
- mining works,
- building physics,
- construction statics,
- design of constructions,
- construction products,
- construction structures
- defects of constructions.

Diagnostics
The Institute exploits its technical and knowledge potential for an effective diagnosis of defects of construction products
and structures. This activity is carried out when detecting and assessing causes of defects or collapse of structures,
usually as a supporting activity for expert testimonies.
A specific field of diagnostics is a diagnosis of hygrothermal performance of buildings. In this field the Institute
offers determination of:
- distribution of thermal fields on surfaces of structures by thermographic method,
- actual composition of structure by core drilling method,
- thermal resistance of structure,
- planar distribution of humidity in roofing,
- energy consumption for heating of nominal apartment,
- exchange of air per hour in room,
- hygienic deficiencies - moulds and leaks in rooms,
- physical condition of residential buildings as relates to retention of heat and energy economy.
